Power of The Decree - Part 1

Power of the Decree – Part 1

The decree is an effective life changing principle hidden in plain sight. To unlock this principle requires we understand the context in which it’s used in scripture. It can be found in Job 22:28 of the old testament in the bible. This principle releases a powerful blessing. It also has attached to it a series of requirements. Each must be met in order for one to exercise the ability it has.

Job 22:28 – Thou shall also decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Before we examine this principle, we will explain the meaning of the word decree and a brief summary of its historical usage. By definition a decree is a thing which exist to carry out a purpose. This means it’s a noun not an action word. It is recognized as a legally binding order, command, law, ordinance, regulation, ruling, judgement, directive, rule, statute, act, enactment, edict, proclamation, mandate, manifesto, or precept. This directive once entered into governmental record, becomes enforceable by the ruling administration. This edict can be spoken, written, or both. Historically, within a kingdom (a society ruled by a king or queen), only the ruling monarch can issue a decree. It is written in Revelation 1:6;

And has made us kings and priests unto God and his father to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Notice it says kings and priests unto God. We are to live our lives in the kingdom of God as kings of our domains while worshiping and serving as priests set apart unto God. The designation as kings has to do with our horizontal inter-personal and professional/business relationships in the earth. While the priesthood is vertical unto God. Jesus came, redeemed mankind and restore the five-fold mandate given to us in the Garden of Eden. That mandate was to be (1) fruitful, (2) multiply, (3) replenish, (4) subdue, and to have (5) dominion, see genesis 1:28. When man fell into rebellion in the Garden of Eden, the authority to subdue and to exercise dominion was usurped and transferred Satan who legally became the god of this world. From that time forward Satan has been the adversary/accuser of man.

After the flood which took place in Noah’s time, God once again issued a mandate to man, this time it was only three-fold. Genesis 9:1 - and God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

I’d often wondered why I’d never heard this taught. It was plain to see after reading Genesis 1:28 then reading Genesis 9:1… mankind had lost the ability to subdue and to have dominion in the earth. This authority has been restored by the obedience and sacrifice the last Adam, who was Jesus the Messiah.
